Weather today was mix of sun and cloud, high of 19C.
We did an outing today that started at Porto de Mos beach, which is between the towns of Lagos and Luz. It again is a very nice beach, wide and about a km long, enough for leisurely stroll. It is a very nice beach for walking and has high cliffs around, enhancing the scenery. It appears to be a popular surfing beach there were surf school lessons going on both times we visited.
After Porto do Mos we drove a short distance to the seaside resort town of Luz. This town is a popular destination for vacationers who do not want to be right in Lagos. It has a nice promenade and beach, though not large as the town itself is small, and quiet.
We had lunch at a small cafe in Luz. There are a few restaurants and cafes in Luz. Lots of villa type accommodations.
From there we hopped in the car and drove another short distance to the seaside town of Burgau. Burgau is smaller again and not really a touristy town. It has more of a crusty older Portugal feel. We parked by the sea front and walked around for about 45min at the beach at small nearby streets.

From Burgau, we did another short drive further along the coast. Next stop was a beach along the road, no town, some people fishing.

Next stop was the town of Salema. This town is in a Rick Steves video and sited as a nice authentic Portuguese town, unspoiled by tourism. We are big Rick Steves fans. However, we found a striking contrast between Burgau and Salema, which are similar size and close by in location. Burgau now seems more undeveloped for tourism, where as Salema seemed spruced up, what looked likely freshly painted buildings, fancier looking restaurants and accommodations, especially for a small town. We suspect there has been a Rick Steves tourism boom in the smalltown of Salema!
Our last stop of the day, before driving back to Lagos was Praia das Furnas. I think we had intended to stop at Praia da Figueira, but we missed the turn and landed here at this nearby beach. Only problem was the road leading to this beach was dirt and rather rough. Not recommended for rental cars. The beach was beautiful, rugged and wild looking as was the clientele in the parking lot, a number of hippy type vans that looked parked for the night or maybe much longer. This was a quick stop and then we departed for back to Lagos.
Some pics from Furnas……..
