Day 19 & 20 Exploring near Lagos

Weather on these days was mostly sunny, some clouds in afternoons and high of 21 and 20 respectively.

The first day we checked on the amenities at our condo, usually these complexes have a pool, but not always and not much more.   The Adega has a indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and gym.  These were nice amenities, not common.

We visited the Meia Praia beach today.   It is the largest beach near Lagos.  It is about 5km long of sand, stretching from the Lagos Marina to the breakwater of Alvor Harbour.   No big cliffs but lots of sand and area to walk, play or lie down.   There is a wooden boardwalk, most of which is brand new (some in fact open but unfinished), which fronts the beach for about 60% and is lovely to walk if you don’t want to get sand on your feet.   This beach was about 15-20min walk from our condo or about 5min drive.

Meia Praia boardwalk, open and very useable but still in progress

Day 20 we went for an afternoon walk to an area close by Lagos (about 10mins drive from center of Lagos), called the Ponta da Piedade.  This area is noted for scenic cliffs that overlook small beaches and is dotted with sea stacks.   It is very scenic.  It has some paths and some areas covered by boardwalks.  Lots of people visit here just to take in the coastal scenery.  We went close to sunset.  As an example of the setting, at one point a wedding party showed up to take wedding pictures of the bride and groom along the cliffs at sunset.

Some pictures from the area……

We will have more pictures of this area on a later visit of a walk down steps to the sea and a couple of tiny beaches surrounded by cliffs.
